Resurrection Day
By David Wright

Today, April 12, 2009, is Resurrection Day. It is, inarguably, the most important day in Christendom.
Christ’s human journey began with His birth. We do not really know the exact date, for it is not THAT important. The important fact is that of His birth and the events surrounding it. His humanity and what He gave up to achieve it. I would guess that He put aside a whole LOT of things to fit into His HUMAN body, for we all are too aware that, while God is unlimited, WE are extremely limited and Jesus became like US, which He had to do in order to SAVE us from our well-deserved taste of the Father’s wrath. What memories, what things He must have put aside, put on hold, in order to come down to OUR level we cannot even guess at. However, what we know for sure is that God became flesh and dwelt among us.
Then, at the peak of His life, the apex of His ministry, He was denounced, dragged off to be tortured and killed. He knew it was coming, He knew it was part of the plan of Salvation that He and His Father had long ago laid out. He had to die for us. To become the blood sacrifice God demanded in atonement for our sins. How great is THAT?
Yet, His death had before and has yet today many parallels. As a retired United States Marine, I often think of the sacrifices made on the battlefield by young men who unhesitatingly put themselves between the enemy and their comrades. I ponder in awe the courage it takes to die for another’s sake. It’s humbling indeed to think of these marvelous youngsters and what they gave up for their buddies to be able to live on. So, as I said, Christ’s death does have precedent, which, I think, not only does not diminish it one iota, but raises up the OTHER sacrifices almost (but never quite there) to His level.
There is, though, the ONE THING that transcends anything else throughout history (which, as we all know, is HIS Story, after all), one thing that only God as man could possibly ever do. In His Resurrection AS A HUMAN, Jesus declared, proved and gave us VICTORY OVER DEATH.
That one thing, that we could never do were we to live a million years, is what sets Christ apart from us all: HE ROSE AGAIN. He DIED and then gained the victory over death. That is what Resurrection day is all about, that is His crowning achievement and that is the promise He gave us: we, through Him, now have victory over death.
So from me to each and every one of my brothers and sisters in Christ, Happy Resurrection Day.

Read the story here:

Albany, NY, Times Union

and here are my comments on it for your further perusal and edification:

If this is true, and I have little reason to doubt it, the police department, from the top down, needs to be fired, prosecuted and jailed for 99 years to life. There can be NO excuse for such behavior, yet such things are becoming altogether TOO COMMONPLACE. It’s as if our new masters are letting us know what’s in store for us when their consolidation of power over us is complete. Such things seem to happen DAILY and NOTHING happens to the perps.

But there seems to be a growing contingent of citizens who are altogether too willing to trade MY freedom for THEIR illusion of security. It is chilling to think that this sort of moron, whom I gave well over twenty two years of my life to defend, God help me, wants to spit in my face and tear up the Constitution for the United States so that they can feel like they have some sort of security… God help this nation because we are in dire straits if we get too many morons and the requisite gummint agents all too willing to assume a power and authority NOT THEIRS to take, in response to the weak-kneed morons (who probably don’t have two brain cells to rub together BETWEEN THEM.

Via e-mail

Dear Editor:

I reacted with considerable horror at the atrocity (not tragedy, as that term should be reserved for natural phenomena or accidents) at Virginia Tech last week... Not just at the evil of the wanton murders, but also the circumstance which ensured that Cho could complete his dirty work and at the predictable response from the political class and its supporters in the old-line media.

There were calls for the resignation of VA Tech's president, but none for the right reason: his support of the ban on firearms on campus, whether owned or carried by students, faculty or even campus police. Virginia has a fair bit of sense in its firearms laws, but this ban flies in the face of every law on their books. This criminally insane policy was directly responsible for MOST of the deaths and woundings committed by Cho, as NO ONE was armed and able to stop him. The sole hero, as far as I know, was the Holocaust-survivor professor who barricaded a door, allowing his students to escape through a window. He could not stop Cho, however, and paid with his life. The president should not only be fired, he and the members of the board who voted for that policy should face criminal charges as accomplices to Cho.

Yet despite the irrefutable evidence (and pictures of the responding, armed police officers standing behind trees, a la Columbine), the usual suspects are calling now for even more victim disarmament. The bodies weren't even cold yet, when the first of the media was editorializing about a "need" for more gun control (read: Victim Disarmament).

I have to wonder what it is that these people are pushing that requires a disarmed and subservient population. With all of the clear evidence that unarmed citizens are at the (lack of) mercy of foul beings such as Cho, and that our police cannot, will not (especially if THEIR lives might be endangered) and are not legally required to protect us in times of extreme danger, some pitiful excuses for human beings YET want more disarmament of the public. They have the same sick mentality which holds that a woman, raped and strangled with her own pantyhose in a dark alley, is somehow morally superior to the woman who is explaining to a police officer how her attacker got all those bullet holes in him. It is the attitude which breeds much of the increase in violent crime, such as the atrocity at VA Tech, the shootings at NASA and the other copycat crimes we WILL be witnessing in the days and weeks to come, sure as God made little apples. Because the media, in their infinite (lack of) wisdom, gave Cho exactly what he craved: posthumous attention galore. ALL the copycat crazies saw that and know they will get the same when THEY become notorious. Then what will you media types have to say to yet MORE grieving families? What will the political class have to say to the relatives of those they disarmed and left helpless at the hands of madmen?

And to those who think like Bryan Girard (Times-Herald, 4-22-07), let me hasten to assure you that the Second Amendment to the Constitution for the United States does not GRANT a right to Keep and Bear Arms, as you appear to think it might. As the Founders recognized, the right to defend ourselves and our families and nation, and own and possess the means for doing so, PREDATES the Constitution and comes to us from our Creator. The Second Amendment merely requires all governments in the United States to recognize and respect that PRE-EXISTING right and LEAVE IT ALONE. Your cries for total disarmament fly in the face of reality and will, if acted on, only create the conditions where MORE Columbines and VA Techs can flourish. But I suppose if that's OK with you, you should keep on whining about privately-held firearms.

However, if you look at your history, Bryan, you'll wonder: If no more than a scant few hundred IRA Provo thugs could obtain enough weapons (including fully automatic weapons, blackmarket or smuggled into Ireland) to keep several THOUSAND British troops busy for decades in a SMALL island nation with VERY strict disarmament laws, how much more mayhem could be committed in a country as large as ours and with borders as porous as ours are allowed to be? Your time and efforts would be far better spent encouraging our youngsters to learn the basics of firearms safety and marksmanship, with emphasis on when a weapon should be used against another human being (solely in defense of one's self or others), NOT encouraging the growth of violent crime always associated with restrictive gun laws.

Very truly,

Here it is, the end of January, 2007, already. Time sure does fly when you're having fun... Hope that your Christmas and New Year holidays were blessed. Next up is St. Valentine's day, then St. Paddy's day for we Irish.

But there are other days. Like my son's birthday and wedding and my ex-wife's birthday that she shared with her step-son... and then the date she passed away, scarce two weeks prior to her birthday in 2004. Someone tell me how does one deal with the guilt of not having apologized to someone for the wrongs you did them and asked forgiveness before they die?

This post is in honor of Yong Ae Wright, a wonderful and lovely lady who deserved far better than I gave her...

27 July 2006

Just because this has been around a while is no reason not to revive it... especially in light of current events!!!

04 July 2006

Happy Independence Day, folks. Here's a unique quiz on freedom and independence from the inimitable Neil Boortz:

JUST HOW MUCH DO YOU
REALLY
LOVE FREEDOM?

Planning for your retirement.

  1. I want my employer to provide me with a pension
    plan.

  2. I want the government to take something out of
every one of my paychecks and then pay it back to me in monthly payments
    after I reach retirement age.

  3. I'm perfectly willing to save some money toward
my retirement years out of each and every paycheck and I want my
employer and the government to butt out. If I fail to finance my
retirement years adequately I'll have nobody to blame but myself.

Desecrating the American Flag

  1. I believe the Bill of Rights was written by men
to tell government what it can and cannot do. Even though I
strongly disapprove of anyone desecrating our Flag, I realize the First
Amendment was written to protect unpopular expressions, not ones that
everyone is going to agree with.

  2. I believe that our Flag is the symbol of our
country, and anyone who desecrates it ought to be punished harshly.
To that end I approve of a new Constitutional amendment, the first one
since prohibition that would tell us what we can and cannot do, instead
    of the government.

Medical Care

  1. My employer should provide me with a health
insurance plan covering me and my immediate family.

  2. The government should provide taxpayer funded
    health care for everyone.

  3. I should be responsible for providing my own
health care and health insurance in a competitive medical
marketplace unhindered by government mandates and regulations.

Health Insurance

  1. The government should tell health insurance
companies what they must and what they cannot cover in their policies.

  2. I wish to be free to negotiate with health
insurance companies in order to find the best price for my policy by
including matters I wish to insure against, and excluding health
matters, like drug and alcohol abuse, which are of no concern to me.

Having No Health Insurance

  1. If I have no health insurance the government
should provide me emergency health care paid for by the taxpayers.

  2. If I have no health insurance and the taxpayers
are compelled to pay for any of my health care the taxpayers should be
reimbursed through the seizure and sale of all of my assets. I
have no claim on the property of others for the purpose of paying for my
    medical needs.

Choosing a doctor

  1. I'm perfectly willing to rely on private
accreditation organizations to tell me who is properly trained in the
delivery of medical services. After conferring with those
accreditation organizations, like the American Medical Association, I
want to be free to chose any person I want for any medical purpose I see
    fit.

  2. I want the government to tell me who I can seek
    medical services from.

Wages and Employment

  1. I realize that in the free enterprise marketplace
I have something to sell just as to all other individuals and businesses
do. My product is my physical and intellectual labor. I
should be left absolutely free to negotiate a price for my physical and
intellectual labor with any prospective employer free of government
interference. The only role for the government in my relationship
with my employer would be to provide a means to enforce contracts
    between us.

  2. I want the government to set a minimum wage below
which I would not be free to work. I also want the government to
set my working hours, how I am to be paid for overtime, family leave
    options and my vacation periods,

I recognize that the most important task I shall
have as a human being will be to nurture and raise my child. With
that in mind:

  1. I want the government to seize my money through
taxes and to use those taxes to set up a system of government schools to
which I shall be compelled to send my child. I will be free, if I
wish, to send my child to a private school, but the government will not
let me have any of my money back to pay for it.

  2. I want the government to back out of the picture
and allow me to accept the responsibility for the education of my child
free of government interference and mandates.

Knowing that the more despotic a government becomes
the more that government tries to control the dissemination of
information. I also know that most American rely on the broadcast
media for their news. Therefore:

  1. I want the government to continue to license the
operation of all radio and television stations and to regulate their
conduct so that they don't broadcast against the common interest.

  2. I want the broadcast media in this country to
have the full First Amendment rights granted to the printed media.

I am a devoutly religious person and my religious
feelings include strongly felt opinions on what other people should and
should not do in their private lives.

  1. I want the government to regulate the sexual
conduct between consenting adults so that said conduct will be in
keeping with my personal sense of what is right and what is wrong.

  2. I may be disgusted by what some people do to and
with each other in the privacy of their own homes, but I do not wish for
the government to prevent those perverts from doing whatever perverted
things they like to do to each other.

Even though I drink alcohol and smoke nicotine:

  1. I want the government to make sure that nobody
uses any substance that I find personally offensive. Marijuana,
    for instance.

  2. I do not believe that the government should be
involved in what people do, and that includes what people smoke, in
privacy of their own homes. I just don't want to have to pay for
it when they screw themselves up good.

You need some legal advice.

  1. 1. You want the government to tell you who you
can go to for legal advice. If you go to someone for legal advice
who is not approved by the government, and that person charges you to
prepare a will or to draw up a lawsuit for you, you want the government
to punish that person with a heavy fine, or perhaps some jail time, even
though you freely entered into an agreement with him for that advice and
    legal help.

  2. 2. You are willing to use your own common
sense in choosing someone to represent you before a court, either
someone who is recommended by a private accreditation agency such as the
American Bar Association, or someone who is otherwise known to you to be
informed and capable as to legal affairs, and you are willing to abide
    by the choice you made.

You're going to have a child. You understand
that having a child will be physically, emotionally and financially
challenging. So .....

  1. You want the government to used money seized from
taxpayers to pay for child care for your child.

  2. You want the government to force your employer to
give you 12 weeks off from the job in order to care for your new child,
and you want your job to be waiting for you when you return.

  3. You know that you had the child, not the
taxpayers and not your employer, and you are willing to bear the
responsibility for raising that child without the government imposing
any cost, burden or duty on anyone else on your behalf.

You want to ride your motorcycle without a helmet.

  1. You're willing to take full responsibility for
your decision, including the possibility that you might die if you crack
your head open and you don't have enough money to pay for the medical
care you'll need and there's no private charity willing to step up and
cover your costs because they consider your injuries to be essentially
    self-inflicted.

  2. You want to be free to ride without a helmet, but
if you do happen to sustain a horrible injury you want the government to
force the taxpayers to be responsible for your health care.

Now from those wonderful guys and gals at JPFO comes another alert,
one we need to pay good, CLOSE attention to... Remember these folks
are putting it all on the line. The BATFags HATE those who would shed
light on their nefarious activities...

ALERT FROM JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP
America's Aggressive Civil Rights Organization

March 15, 2006

JPFO ALERT: "If You Have Nothing to Hide..."

"If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear."

How often have those words been spoken by supporters of the
growing surveillance state? As each of our rights are
systematically violated or legislated out of existence,
we're reassured that it will only affect terrorists,
murderers and other criminal types.

Untrue.

The news is rife with reports of innocent Americans caught
in the "war on terror."

- Innocent Americans -- including small children -- are
refused the right to travel due to the "no-fly"
list...which they are never allowed to see.

- The Patriot Act was used in Las Vegas, Nevada to "sting"
exotic dancers (one wonders how the Patriot Act applies to
exotic dancers -- perhaps prosecutors believed they were
part of a terrorist's harem?)

- And over the past two years, the BATFE ran a sting
operation against Arizona's Hells Angels Motorcycle Club,
claiming the Hells Angels "participated in drug violations,
gun running, murder, racketeering and other crimes."

According to the _Arizona Republic_ (
http://tinyurl.com/o8kkg ), the Arizona crackdown was part
of a national Hells Angels sweep led by ATF agents
attempting to prove the club was a "criminal syndicate". As
is often the case with BATFE investigations, the agency
relied on dubious informants and intimidation techniques in
an effort to elicit plea bargains.

The end result of this investigation -- reportedly costing
millions of YOUR confiscated tax dollars -- was the arrest
of a mere handful of suspects. Despite the BATFE's
accusations, NONE were convicted of "racketeering," half
plea-bargained to much lesser charges (sentenced to less
than 5 years in federal prison), and almost a third were
exonerated completely.

Nothing to fear? The Hells Angels are a "fringe" group,
with fringe interests, and the US Attorney's office (along
with the BATFE) wanted to make an example out of them.
Wanna bet that firearm enthusiasts are considered "fringe"
as well?

Join JPFO'S "Boot the BATFE" Campaign (
www.jpfo.org/bootbatfe.htm ) and make a stand. We MUST rein
in this rogue agency. We MUST defend our rights against an
increasingly Orwellian police state. And we MUST bring back
a Bill of Rights culture to America.

There are only 275 days until Bill of Rights Day. Let's
give it meaning.

ALERT FROM JEWS FOR THE PRESERVATION OF FIREARMS OWNERSHIP
America's Aggressive Civil Rights Organization

December 6, 2005

JPFO ALERT: GIVE BATFE THE BOOT!

We gun owners routinely say to one another that we have the
"right" to keep and bear arms. Honestly, though: what kind
of "right" do we have if we are afraid to use it? There is
one federal agency whose job is to instill fear into gun
owners and dealers. That agency is BATFE, and it has always
relied on our fear (see our BATFE archive at
www.jpfo.org/batfearticles.htm).

But now there's good news. JPFO, in conjunction with
courageous gun-maker Len Savage, has literally taken on
this dangerous, vindictive federal agency. We have had
encouraging successes, and now we must now take it to the
next level.

BOOT THE BATFE

JPFO is instituting a new "Boot the BATFE" campaign. We
plan to run large ads in influential national media to
"wake up the choir" and get gun owners roaring. We must
tell gun owners that, after all these terrible decades of
abuse, a handful of crusaders have put the BATFE on the run
- and that it's now up to all of us to pursue the BATFE
with facts, knowledge, and courage until it is dismantled
and no longer a terror to American gun owners.

These ads will cost $1,000 to $2,000 or more - each, but
they will deliver facts to educate and enlist more gun
owners to help. Through this campaign, we will sound a
ringing wake-up call to action.

HOW TO HELP

Please visit http://www.jpfo.org/bootbatfe.htm to learn
more about "BOOT THE BATFE." You can donate directly toward
the campaign at http://www.jpfo.org/donateboot.htm . You
can also help us by purchasing our new "Boot the BATFE" t-
shirts from our online store
(http://www.jpfo.org/jpfowear.htm). These t-shirts give
BATFE a whole new meaning! As a bonus, with each t-shirt,
you'll get a FREE "Boot the BATFE" lapel pin ($9.95 value)!
Limited quantity, so act today!

This is your fight. This is the fight for the rights of all
firearms owners in America. Please contact us today and
contribute what you can. If we run out of funds, we'll have
to quit and BATFE will win. Your financial support is
crucial to give this rogue agency the boot.

If we don't boot the BATFE, you can bet someday they'll boot
_you_.
